Folding storage is a key feature for kitchen accessories since countertop/cabinet space is so important to a homeowner. The patented folding design of the wine glass drying rack became a challenge because it required a suitable standard cost, strength, and manufacturability. It can often be very difficult to overcome all three attributes. Early concepts involved many small parts that were complex and expensive to produce.
After many mock-ups and 3D printed prototypes, the final solution proved to be robust and simple. It reduced the hinge assembly down to 4 parts and allowed the project to be completed for its production run.
